The Bengals suffered an embarrassing 24-3 loss to the Browns in Week 1. Here are three reasons why they will turn things around in Week 2 against the Ravens.
There weren't a lot of positives for Cincinnati to take away from Week 1, but QB Joe Burrow isn't worried as the team has started 0-1 before.
"Week 1 doesn't define anybody's season," Burrow said. "We've been in this spot before and we've come back stronger and had great years. So that's what we're gonna do."
Burrow is 1-3 in Week 1 since entering the league in 2020, and yet, he has led the Bengals to back-to-back AFC title games and a Super Bowl appearance. If history tells us anything, they'll be just fine.
After becoming the highest-paid player in NFL history, Burrow certainly didn't look the part in Week 1. The 26-year-old had a career-low 82 yards passing and a career-worst 52.2 passer rating.
He wasn't the only player who had a down performance for Cincinnati either. Wide receiver Tee Higgins had zero catches on eight targets and WR Ja'Marr Chase only posted five catches for 39 yards, which both led the team.
The Bengals' 142 yards of offense was the worst in the NFL in Week 1. It's very likely that's the worst the team will look the rest of the season.
Cincinnati had to go into hostile territory to face its division rival last week. That's never an easy thing to do, especially in a competitive AFC North. However, that isn't the case this week.
The Bengals are back home in front of their fans in hopes of getting their season back on track. Of course, being the benefactors of home-field advantage isn't going to win them the game alone, but having their fans swing a few penalties in their favor can sometimes be the difference between a win and a loss.
