Adrian Newey , the creator of Red Bull’s all-winning challengers, claims that the new RB20’s design is a bit more extreme version of the previous challenger, the RB19. Contrary to early expectations of fewer changes, the RB20 has a bold look and decent design changes.

The RB20’s vertical radiator inlet creates a large undercut at the front while also reducing surface area and evoking the Mercedes 2022 zero-side pod design. This design element aims to minimize surface area without compromising the car’s performance.

Newey believes that the core of RB20 is the same as the RB19, but they have advanced the level of the car.

Really the sort of architecture of the car, has stayed very similar. Third generation since ’22. The aero principles which you now see on this year’s car compared to last year, it’s a route that we were taking really since early ’22 and it’s just a more extreme version or route down the same path. Under the current set of F1 regulations, the Red Bull outfit has operated in a league of its own. Max Verstappen and Co. have won everything there is to win in the sport and are still continuing in the same manner. The ongoing campaign is four rounds down, and Red Bull has won all of them.

Adrian Newey is tired of the ongoing Red Bull saga

It has been months now, that Red Bull has been going through turmoil with no end in sight. Christian Horner‘s inappropriate behavior controversy set in motion a chain of internal politics and power struggles, causing unrest within the team. As understood by the media, the Chief Technical Officer, Adrian Newey is tired and doesn’t want further involvement.

Former F1 driver Robert Doornbos, recently took the time to talk about the same.

Behind the scenes, the lawsuit with that staff member against Horner is still going on, Adrian Newey is no longer charmed by it at all. What I have heard is that Adrian Newey will no longer renew his contract. And that is a thing, because if he stops at the end of 2025, will you still be good for the new era? Adrian Newey himself has left the room open for possibilities regarding a possible move away from Red Bull. The ongoing unrest seems like an ominous aspect, that might lead to the Austrian outfit’s ultimate downfall. Keeping everything in view, there could be further developments at Red Bull within the upcoming months.
