Lewis Hamilton claims he’ll have talks with Toto Wolff to prevent taking Mercedes details to Ferrari

During the F1 off-season, the seven-time World Champion, Lewis Hamilton announced his shock move to Ferrari. The Briton will be ending his successful partnership with the Silver Arrows to drive for the Ferrari outfit in 2025. But, due to the move being so early in the year, the 39-year-old will also likely be included in the development of Mercedes’s next year’s challenger.

This can lead to some complications as Hamilton will have a lot of information that he might be able to tell Ferrari to help them. This is something Lewis Hamilton wants to avoid, so the driver recently shared how he will tackle the situation by having talks with Toto Wolff.

Lewis Hamilton will be leaving Mercedes after 11 seasons in 2025.

I mean at some stage I will have to, it will start with a conversation with Toto, because I don’t know how to navigate [it], When I was leaving McLaren it was towards the end of the season, I didn’t go to Mercedes until December, I had my first seat fit when the season was done, so I imagine [it will be] the same here.

The Briton added that he will start having some key conversations with Wolff to deal with these situations soon. The conversations will definitely be interesting as Hamilton is well-known for having brilliant feedback around car development.

Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes have had a shocking start to the ongoing season. From their disappointing pace in Bahrain, Saudi, and Japan to their double DNF in Australia, the team hasn’t been able to extract enough performance from their W15.

This has led to doubts regarding Hamilton’s last year with Mercedes. But, the driver has recently shared how he is working with his team to improve the performance and end the partnership on a high.

Of course, there’s excitement about the future but right now we’re going through a difficult phase and that’s my challenge. All my energy is going to try and figure out how we can get ourselves back to the top, how can we work with the guys, how can we, in the debriefs, give them better direction. I’m a competitor, I want to win, and thinking about next year is not going to help me do that.

The seven-time World Champion seems to be fired up and more motivated than ever to end his time with Mercedes on a positive note. He will surely want to obtain one last victory with the Brackley-based team before he brings the curtain down on his career with them. There are a total of 20 Grand Prix remaining in the 2024 F1 season.
